Outbreak of World War Two Quiz | History Hit

This week marks the anniversaries of the beginning and end of World War Two.

German troops rolled into Poland on 1 September 1939, and Japan signed its official surrender on the deck of USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay, six years and one day later.

The outbreak of World War Two has been blamed on the policy of ‘appeasement’ – with the Great Powers of Europe failing to stand up to German leader Adolf Hitler’s aggressive foreign policy until it was too late.
